Politically provocative scenarios in a Japanese war game have taken gamers by surprise
The Steam version of SystemSoft Beta’s Daisenryaku SSB is scheduled to launch in June, but it’s the scenarios in the game that have gamers in Japan buzzing. For example, one is called Crisis in the Straits of Taiwan and sees a Taiwan that’s been abandoned by both the United States and Japan fighting alone against China for their independence.

Japanese YouTuber Takatin has issued an apology to fans after lying about one of his Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Let’s Play videos. He had initially claimed that the video in question was a first playthrough when it in fact wasn’t.

PushDustIn, who runs PR at the Kyoto-based VR/AR game developer CharacterBank, took to Twitter to poll game developers about what they wished the public knew about making games.

Indie game developer and publisher Akupara Games has released a checklist on Twitter asking, “What is your VARIETY indie game score?” The list they created contains 100 popular indie games, and by checking off the titles that you have played, you’ll get to find out your “indie gamer score.”
