Japanese indie developer kuetaro announced on February 27 that their roguelike RPG Creator of Another World will be coming to Steam. The release date has yet to be confirmed.

Creator of Another World is a PC/browser-based RPG that gives the player a high degree of freedom. It is set in a fantasy world with its 2D top-down graphics harking back to the beginnings of classic RPG series like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. However, as this game is roguelike, the overworld, towns, inhabitants, adventurers and dungeons are all randomly generated each time you play. This allows you to journey through the game however you wish, without being tied to a particular goal. For example, you could choose to become friends with the people you meet on your journey, teaming up with them to go on adventures, or you could grind through dungeons to become the strongest. The game gives you so much freedom to live your in-game life as you please. You can interact with the townspeople, get married, steal, farm, fish, forge weapons, mix potions and build your own towns.

The properties of the various weapons, armor and equipment that you can obtain are also randomly generated. For example, each weapon has an attack attribute and is assigned a status according to that attribute (such as hit rate or attack power), but the performance of the same type of weapon can vary. Battles against enemies are also dynamic and can change in an instant, depending on factors such as character positions, the weather and the time of day. You can also learn enemy skills by reading books dropped by defeated foes.

In addition, each person you meet has their own characteristics and personality. The player can adventure with and marry most of these characters. It is also possible to create your own adventurers and bring them into the game world.

Creator of Another World was first released on DLsite in July 2023. At the time of writing, it has sold around 26,400 copies. The game has been well-received, garnering over 5,800 ratings with an overall score of 4.71 out of 5. Developer kuetaro previously revealed their intention to release a Steam version of the game, which has now been officially unveiled in the trailer above. As well as being playable as a PC download, a browser-based version can be enjoyed by Linux and Mac users (however, some functions won’t work in the browser version). Overall, Creator of Another World is a positively reviewed roguelike RPG that offers players a completely different experience with each playthrough.
