Toei Animation, Japan’s historic anime studio famous for shows such as One Piece, Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon, revealed through its financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2026 that it will be moving forward with plans to establish a new animation studio in Vietnam and a base in Dubai (source Kai-You). These initiatives are part of its VISION 2030 management plan, which aims to increase revenue to 200 billion JPY (roughly $1.2 billion USD) and operating profit to 50 billion JPY ($316 million USD) by the year 2031 through full-scale global growth.
While preparations for the Vietnam studio were recently announced and are part of the company’s efforts to improve and evolve its animation studios, plans for a Dubai sales office were already in place by October 2025 and are more focused on regional expansion. According to the VISION 2030 plan, the company will invest approximately 24 billion JPY ($152 billion USD) on its studios (including increasing its workforce by several hundred people) and 20 billion JPY ($127 million USD) on overseas development.

Vietnam and Dubai aren’t the only countries that the studio has its sights on. In addition to increasing its workforce and reinforcing its presence in existing areas (plans to build a world-class global anime production system centered on the Oizumi Studio in Tokyo are underway), Toei Animation will also expand into six new regions, including Asia. It is also working on several initiatives that are aimed at “strengthening its IPs” and “expanding customer touchpoints”.
