Atelier Ryza “AI chat RPG” announced. Developers promise “no AI-generated artwork” and fair revenue sharing with voice actors

The game comes with quests as well as a casual chat mode where players can talk to Ryza.

SpiralAI has announced RyzaChat: Your Midsummer Dream Story with AI Ryza (unofficial translation), an AI chat RPG based on the Atelier Ryza series. Co-developed alongside Koei Tecmo’s studio Gust, the game is scheduled to launch sometime in August 2026, with pre-registrations open starting today. This news comes following the announcement of Koei Tecmo’s partnership with the domestic AI startup

RyzaChat is set on Kurken Island, the original world of Atelier Ryza, with progression unfolding solely through interactions with a Ryza-based conversational AI. The first objective will task players with helping Ryza build a boat to leave Kurken Island, which unlocks the world map upon completion. From there, new quests are generated as players advance, with the game promising an essentially unlimited number of personalized quests based on players’ conversations with the AI. The world map follows the original games’ setting, allowing players to travel between locations for exploration, material gathering, combat, synthesis, and construction alongside the full cast of characters from the original Atelier Ryza trilogy.

In this sense, RyzaChat has no fixed scenario. Instead, the idea is to create your own adventure. Aside from the quests, which are accessed through the game’s RPG Mode, you can also switch to a Chat Mode for casual one-on-one conversations with Ryza. Ryza’s facial expressions and gestures will change as she responds to your messages, and the game will keep track of inventory, stamina, and currency in the background as you play. For example, any items you pick up will be added to your inventory, and Ryza will advise you on what materials or how much in-game currency you need to build something.

Alongside the announcement, SpiralAI has emphasized several measures it says were taken to ensure responsible use of AI. The developer says all illustrations, character portraits, promotional videos, and key visuals were created by human artists under the supervision of original Atelier Ryza illustrator Toridamono, guaranteeing that the game does not use AI-generated video or images.

Ryza’s voice synthesis is based on recordings made specifically for the app by her original voice actress, Yuri Noguchi, using SpiralAI’s in-house voice synthesis model “Kotodama.”

The game’s dialogue uses SpiralAI’s proprietary “SpiralLLM,” which was trained on the Atelier Ryza series’ scenarios and reference materials. According to the company, the model was built upon publicly available base models whose licenses permit such use, and was further trained only with data that SpiralAI and the IP holders  were legally authorized to use.

The developers also stressed that RyzaChat’s world, characters, and setting were created under the supervision of Gust to remain faithful to the original series.

Finally, SpiralAI promises that revenue from the game will be shared with contributors, including the illustrators, voice actors, and IP holders in the form of royalties tied to the assets used, describing this system as a way to ensure AI character-based experiences continue to support creators.

RyzaChat: Your Midsummer Dream Story with AI Ryza is scheduled to release in August 2026 for iOS and Android.
