Neko Atsume cat-collecting game to get improved sequel

Japanese developer Hit-Point has recently announced that Neko Atsume 2 Kitty Collector will be coming out this summer. The game will be released in Japanese and English simultaneously on iOS and Android, with other languages to be confirmed.

Like its predecessor 2014’s Neko Atsume, the game will involve attracting cute cartoon cats to visit your home. To attract them, you can put out food, and purchase toys and accessories. Each cat has its own purrsonality and many have pun-based names to match. From the promotional image released alongside the announcement, it seems like some of your old kitty friends will be making a return in the sequel, including Mr. Fortune, Tubbs and Billy the Kitten.

According to the release statement, the sequel will improve upon and “further enhance the charm of” the popular cat-collecting game. The new game’s release will mark the 10th anniversary of the series. Hit-Point addressed the issue with the previous game’s updates being delayed due to development constraints and promises to deliver better service with Neko Atsume 2.

So far, Neko Atsume 2 has only been announced for mobile platforms. There is no word as to whether this title will also receive the VR treatment like the original game, which came to PS4 in 2018 and MetaQuest last December.

Neko Atsume 2 is scheduled to release on iOS and Android in summer 2024.
