Monochrome Corporation and Good Smile Company have announced the new action RPG DAWNGAZER, planned for release in 2028 on PC (Steam), PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
DAWNGAZER is the debut title of IGNISPHERE Studio, a game development studio led by Vanillaware veteran Takafumi Noma. Noma is best known as the director and character designer of 2024’s Unicorn Overlord, and was also involved in the development of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Dragon’s Crown Pro, and Odin Sphere Leifthrasir. He left Vanillaware in March 2025, and is now developing games under Monochrome Corporation.
Details about DAWNGAZER remain largely under wraps for now, but a teaser released alongside the announcement reveals a medieval fantasy town setting and offers a glimpse at the game’s art style and characters. The music will be composed by Yoshimi Kudo, known for his work on Unicorn Overlord and Elden Ring.
Monochrome Corporation, which is handling planning and development of DAWNGAZER, is a Japanese company involved in both games and anime production. It released the tactical RPG Grand Kingdom in 2015 through publisher Spike Chunsoft, while its more recent projects include Dusk Index: Gion and SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered. Notably, the company is also credited for second key animation for the Witch Hat Atelier anime, as well as 3DCG assistance for Medalist.
In celebration of its 15th anniversary, Monochrome Corporation has teamed up with publisher Good Smile Company to launch the brand-new IP IGNISPHERE. With DAWNGAZER being the first game to launch within the project, the two companies plan to build out an expansive original fantasy world featuring numerous countries and races, known as the Ignisphere. The IP will also be expanded through other mediums, including figures and multiple light novel projects published by Kadokawa.
DAWNGAZER is planned to release in 2028 for PC (Steam), PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2. The game will support English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Future updates will be published through the official Ignisphere X account.
