Bandai Namco’s Synduality: Echo of Ada is shutting down online services, but players are oddly happy about it thanks to promised “PvP-free” offline mode

The official EOS date will be announced in May 2027.

Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that it will be ending online services for the PvPvE mech extraction shooter Synduality: Echo of Ada around May 2027. The game will transition to an offline-only version, where players can carry some of their save data and purchased items over to the exclusive PvE extraction shooter mode.

Synduality will not receive any further online service updates following those scheduled for October 2026. Syn Coins, the game’s premium currency, will still be available for purchase until December 17 at 3 PM UTC (it’s worth mentioning that Syn Coins have an expiry date of 150 days starting from the next login after you purchase them). The data transfer feature that allows players to carry some of their progress over to the offline version is set to drop in December, with future details scheduled to be released.

The official date for the shutdown of Synduality’s online services and the transition to the offline version is scheduled to be announced in March 2027. All online features in the current version will become unavailable after the switch.

Released in January 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows (Steam), Synduality currently has an all-time peak of 3,622 players on Steam (via SteamDB). While the game got off to a good start, criticism directed at its pay-to-play nature, lack of content, and brutal PvP gameplay (which is attributed to extraction shooter staples such as losing your items upon death and unbalanced loadouts) brought it down to a “Mixed” rating on Valve’s platform.

That said, the transition to a PvE-only offline mode seems to have many Japanese fans excited. Since many attributed their frustrations to the game’s PvP components – especially player killing that left them without their favorite mechs – its future exclusion has made several players consider coming back. While opinions naturally differ between players, many seem to believe PvP played a part in the game’s initial loss in popularity. As one commenter puts it, “For over 90% of players, the PvP was a reason to quit. In fact, they should make the offline mode available sooner without waiting for the end of online services. There are many people who would play if there were no PvP, so doing so might actually increase the playerbase.” Another user notes, “I’d been saying all along that they should make PvE available right from the start, but they never did. Maybe the offline version they’re currently working on will cause a huge spike in concurrent players. I’d definitely want to play an offline version that’s just PvE.”

Only time will tell how well Synduality’s offline version fares, but as of now, it seems that the change in direction is appealing to fans.

Synduality Echo of Ada is available for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
