Bandai Namco Studios has announced a new indie game label called GYAAR Studio on October 15. The new label plans to release one game per year with an aim to create “worldwide major titles.” One of the Bandai Namco Studios’ staff designated as a “hero (勇者)” will form a team to create a game with a limited budget and time. This label is apparently made to foster young talent within the company.

Their debut title will be Survival Quiz CITY, a multiplayer survival quiz action game scheduled to be released on Steam by indie publisher Phoenixx. GYAAR Studio was named after Gyaar, a character from Survival Quiz CITY, as a reminder of the label’s original intent and passion behind the project.

People will probably have mixed feelings about a large company such as Bandai Namco calling their game label “indie.” Nevertheless, it certainly shows the company’s willingness to give younger generation of creators more creative freedom and room to experiment with ideas.

You can check out the label’s latest news from their official website.
