The indie game MeMento*fragMent is an upcoming visual novel coming to Steam. Developed by one-man indie game dev circle Kūsou no Kōbō, the title lets players be the ones to reclaim their own memory by vicariously experiencing a series of records of a girl traveling through a post-apocalyptic world.
In MeMento*fragMent, you awaken as an amnesiac with no recollection of your past. Seemingly trapped in a dark place with nothing but mysterious fragments lying about, you discover that the pieces, when collected, project snippets of a little girl living in a post-apocalyptic world. With no other lead, you make it your task to put all the pieces together and remember who this mysterious girl is, or was.

Released screenshots refer to the first conflict that triggers the apocalyptic war, which takes place on November 24, 2891 in the game’s world. A white-haired girl with bandages wrapped around her head can be seen in desert-like locations and ruins. The Steam page for MeMento*fragMent describes the game as featuring point-and-click-style visual novel controls, with an approximate playtime of around 1 to 3 hours. The game features three different endings available depending on certain player choices.

The solo developer for MeMento*fragMent, Nagisawa Munin, has created various visual novels in the past, some being web browser games, while their more recent endeavors have had Steam releases, such as Slime girl Wants to be Friends with Humans and Drowning Song of the Stagnant Sea. According to X posts uploaded in June, Nagisawa has already written out the script for the game, explaining that the remaining time until release is being spent on organization and illustration work.
MeMento*fragMent is currently in development and is set to release in 2026 for PC via Steam.
