MoonHack is a dystopian cyber-noir visual novel rhythm game written by Corpse Party creator Makoto Kedouin

MoonHack is set to launch in 2027 for PC (Steam).

ASTRA, an original indie label under Astro Production, officially announced MoonHack on July 7, slated for launch in 2027 via Steam. Originally revealed under the extremely long working title “Human Optimization Project: Eden Protocol – Order of 2125,” the cyber-noir visual novel rhythm game follows a group of young female rebels who seek to rewrite an AI-controlled world using songs.

MoonHack is set in the year 2125, where society is managed primarily by AI. Though people no longer need to worry about labor, taxes, emotions, or even choosing romantic partners, their lives have been optimized to a point where they no longer have freedom of choice.

The story follows Kaguya Tsukuyomi, a young girl decked in blue, whose very “humanity” is logged as a crime by the system. Along with her fellow criminals, Kaguya infiltrates the digital realm controlled by AI and, with the power of song, seeks to fight against a “future that has become too perfect.”

While there is currently no gameplay footage available, MoonHack’s narrative sequences (which follow a visual novel style) are said to closely intertwine with its 3D rhythm-action gameplay, with the latter synchronized to each song’s vocals. This creates the feeling that you are hacking into the digital world using music.

Of note, MoonHack’s development team includes Corpse Party creator Makoto Kedouin as scenario director and Japanese illustrator Noyu as character designer, with music produced by Ukiyone.

MoonHack is set to release sometime in 2027 for Windows (Steam). You can find more information on the game on its official webpage
