Tokyo’s anime hub is getting a dedicated yuri book café, housing one of Japan’s largest yuri collections

Titled Atelier LILIUM, the new book café will also host talks and autograph sessions with creators.

A new book café dedicated to yuri is set to open in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro later this month, offering visitors access to one of Japan’s largest collections of yuri works, as reported by Yuri Navi

LILIUM, the company behind the long-running annual yuri exhibition event “Yuriten,” announced that its new venue, Atelier LILIUM, will hold its grand opening on May 28, 2026. Located about a five-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station’s East Exit, the book café will feature a 38-seat space and house more than 4,000 yuri and yuri-related titles.

The collection spans manga, novels, and magazines, ranging from old classics to recent releases. The company says the library will continue to expand after its opening, positioning the venue as a major hub for yuri lovers.

Beyond the typical offerings of a cafe, Atelier LILIUM will also host exhibitions, creator talk events, autograph sessions, and screenings, as well as sell original merch. Seasonal displays and other themed programming are also planned.

According to LILIUM’s press release, the opening of Atelier Lilum comes amid “growing interest in yuri across multiple media, including anime, live-action dramas, and film.” The company considers that its “Yuriten” exhibition, which was first launched in 2016, has played a role in supporting that expansion by connecting creators and fans through events held in locations across Japan.

Information on Atelier Lilium’s grand opening and subsequent events will be communicated via the official homepage and X account
