FG Remake, a Fanza Games branch dedicated to remaking classic visual novels, announced on August 21 that it will be reviving the 1995 adult escape game Isaku. While the original was developed by visual novel studio Elf for the PC-9801, Isaku Remake will be compatible with Windows. It features full HD support, character sprites and CGs redrawn by original artist Metawo Ueda, additional R-rated scenes, and a revamped UI.
The story follows Kenta Kogure, a high school student who one day receives a love letter from his school crush telling him to go to the top floor of the old wing of their school. Upon reaching his destination, Kenta discovers that several other students (including his crush) and one of his teachers have also been summoned. When they try to leave, they find that the building has been sealed off, with the culprit revealing himself as the titular Isaku Isato, the school’s janitor. From there, a “tragedy born from chaos unfolds,” as the developers describe it.
Gameplay revolves around solving puzzles, acquiring keys to unlock doors, and avoiding Isaku’s traps. While the main goal is to escape and confront Isaku, the choices you make while talking to your fellow prisoners can lead to their capture or escape. Given that Isaku is an adult eroge, it is worth noting that the game contains NSFW scenes, mostly in the form of video tapes you find and watch as Kenta.
Isaku Remake is set to release on December 25 for Windows and only supports Japanese. The physical and digital deluxe editions of the game will include a Windows 11-compatible version of the original game. You can find more about the remake on the official webpage (link is NSFW).
