The Exit 8’s claustrophobic corridors are coming to VR with Meta Quest release

Japanese VR game developer-publisher MyDearest announced today that The Exit 8 VR will be coming to Meta Quest on July 12. You can reserve the game on the Meta Quest Store starting from today.

Like it says on the tin, The Exit 8 VR is a virtual reality version of the popular anomaly-spotting walking sim by Japanese indie developer Kotake Create. Trapped in a looping subway station corridor, the player must successfully spot anomalies in order to escape. Originally releasing on Steam in November 2023, the well-received title sold 30,000 copies within the first day, launching an entire subgenre of copycat games. The Exit 8 has since been released on Nintendo Switch and has an official sequel, Platform 8, which came out on PC this month.

The Exit 8 signs

The Exit 8 VR promises to give us an even more realistic experience, fully immersing the player in the game’s claustrophobic corridors. We are looking forward to wandering the underground passageways and experiencing some of the creepier anomalies up close. The chance to get face-to-face with The Exit 8’s surprisingly popular NPC may also be a draw for some thirsty players.

The Exit 8 is available for the PC (Steam) and the Nintendo Switch. The Exit 8 VR is scheduled to be released for Meta Quest 2/Pro/3 on July 12.
