If you’re in the mood for some lonely, self-reflective feels, then you might want to keep an eye out for In A World After People, a post-human narrative adventure game with over 10,000 Steam Wishlists. Developed and published by Japanese indie creator Yuji under their personal circle Yoruroji, the game will have you questioning what it means to be human.
You play as Libera, a humanoid robot with a TV screen for a head that is activated after humanity’s extinction. With no clue as to why it was activated or by whom, Libera searches for answers before it willingly shuts down.

While Libera’s mission is a personal one, you will also come across details about the game’s world as you explore. By interacting with objects and completing puzzles (the latter of which includes solving CAPTCHAs), the robot shares its memories. The TV screen on its head isn’t just for show either; you can watch video logs that reveal more about the past and what happened to humanity.
Set within the backdrop of beautiful pixel art and a somber soundtrack, In A World After People’s main focus is its characters and narrative. The game can be completed in about two hours and has two endings, but the story, according to the creator, is a “rich and memorable experience.”
In A World After People is set to release sometime in 2026 for Windows, macOS, SteamOS, and Linux (Steam). A free demo, which was released last year, recently received its final update before the game’s official launch.
