Bandai Namco Filmworks has announced a new anime collaboration between Sunrise and SHAFT.

Bandai Namco Filmworks has announced a new anime collaboration between its animation studio Sunrise and Shaft. A new X account, simply titled “Sunrise × Shaft New Anime,” was launched, along with a teaser trailer and a 5-day reveal countdown.

Sunrise is known for its work on Gundam and is responsible for creating most of the franchise’s anime series, movies, and OVAs. Aside from Gundam, it created timeless classics such as Cowboy Bebop, Mashin Hero Wataru, and Code Geass. Sunrise also worked on the anime adaptations of Inuyasha and City Hunter.

Shaft is behind the anime adaptations of Nisekoi, Hidamari Sketch, and the Monogatari series. It has also worked with Magica Quartet to produce the acclaimed Puella Magi Madoka Magica series.

Details on the new project are scarce, with the teaser trailer showing two images: one of a person holding a knife, and the other of a scribbled-out individual walking amongst a crowd against a neon light background. Additionally, the official X account’s profile picture appears to feature a red spider lily, which symbolizes death among other meanings in Japan,

More information is scheduled to be revealed on Tuesday, June 23, at 12:30 A.M. JST.
