“We have finally been able to release Lollipop Chainsaw uncensored” producer celebrates Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP launch

With Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP launching today, Dragami Games founder Yoshimi Yasuda took to social media to express his gratitude for all the hard work the developers put into modernizing the 2012 title, and to emphasize that the game can be played completely uncensored. While the original game’s use of several licensed music tracks delayed its rerelease, RePOP’s original music, various updated features, and extra costumes will hopefully have been worth the wait.

Apart from being a modern remaster, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will feature both an uncensored Original Mode and a new censored RePOP Mode. The uncensored version features all the blood, gore, and guts that fans of the franchise have been accustomed to (it is a zombie-killing game, after all)- as well as improvements on the original game, which Yasuda previously explained in detail.

In contrast, RePOP Mode replaces the gory images with pop-art style effects, which keep with the bubbly, B-movie tone of the game. It is unknown whether the censored version hides the sexier parts of the game (some of Juliet’s costumes, for instance), but that might be for players to find out.

Save for the gore, Yasuda states that both versions of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP “faithfully recreate(s) the original version’s scenario, script, cutscene direction, character design, motion, comic-style character introduction images, costumes, achievements, etc.” In line with his previous comment that Lollipop Chainsaw was not forced to make changes for any platform, Yasuda emphasizes that the Original Mode is completely uncensored. As if this wasn’t enough, PC players will be delighted to know that the game is Denuvo-free, preventing the various problems that come with the anti-tamper system.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PS5 and PC (Steam). It will be available consoles in Japan from September 26. The game will also launch on PS4 and Xbox One in November.
