In a recent interview with Famitsu, Nexon Games IO Division head Yongha Kim and deputy-head Min-Seo Cha shared some new tidbits about their upcoming title codenamed Project RX.
Developed by the team behind Blue Archive, Project RX is imagined as an immersive 3D game designed to feel like a cozy slice-of-life “isekai,” where players get to live together with a cast of beautiful girls. Information on the gameplay itself has been scarce so far, however, a teaser released back in December gave us a glimpse of some of the characters’ fantasy-style skills and weapons, suggesting possible combat elements.
While being careful not to reveal too much, talking to Famitsu, Cha said that the most important detail about Project RX is that it’s “a game that offers a completely different experience to Blue Archive.” Apparently, the development team has already prepared a playable build of the game, and according to Kim, a closed-beta test might be conducted in the “very near future.”
Additionally, the two developers confirmed that the special “rock-paper-scissors” minigame which they showcased at Anime Expo 2026’s Project RX booth is based on a work-in-progress build of the game.
We also know that Project RX was built in Unreal Engine 5, and that it’s being developed on a significantly more ambitious scale compared to Blue Archive, with Nexon almost doubling the number of staff for the project. Furthermore, the game was recently also confirmed for a console release.
Currently, Project RX’s release schedule is TBA, but further announcements can be expected via IO Division’s official X account and YouTube channel.
