After voice actor and Nintendo Direct narrator Yuichi Nakamura failed to secure a Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order last week, he jokingly announced that he would be cutting ties with anyone who won the MyNintendoStore lottery and got to pre-order the console for themselves. Unfortunately, game designer and director Masahiro Sakurai was able to get a Switch 2 pre-order of his own, prompting a chaotic exchange between the two – with Nakamura sulking and Sakurai coming up with a very realistic solution to the issue.

The light Sakurai is referring to is none other than the one emitted by a Neuralyzer popularized by the Men in Black franchise. Neuralyzed people can have their memories erased and replaced with suggestive memories or commands. As Sakurai doesn’t want Nakamura to cut ties with him for getting a Switch 2 pre-order, he proposes that he neuralyze him so they can continue their friendship.
The funniest part about all this is that Sakurai recently uploaded a follow-up post showing him neuralyzing Nakamura in real life with what looks like a karaoke microphone. Nakamura’s open mouth and wide eyes help sell the joke, but the facade breaks when you realize Sakurai forgot to wear shades to protect himself from the neuralyzer’s mind-wiping effects. Based on this oversight, perhaps Sakurai will forget about his Switch 2 pre-order and both of them will remain friends under the guise that they weren’t able to secure Nintendo’s hard-to-snag console.
