Stupid Never Dies developers address players’ biggest demo concerns with improved attack tracking and optional Combat Camera Assist

The update is live today.

Stupid Never Dies, GPTRACK50’s upcoming zombie-themed roguelike action RPG, just got an update patch for its “First Bite Demo,” implementing changes to address some of the major concerns players have been raising since the demo rolled out on September 18.

The official X account for Stupid Never Dies announced that an update for the demo is available starting today. The developers received the most vocal feedback from players when it comes to landing hits on enemies during combat, as well as how difficult it was to keep the camera on the enemy.

Based on this feedback, the latest Stupid Never Dies update adds a new “Combat Camera Assist” feature in the options menu, allowing players the option to have the game’s camera naturally gravitate towards enemies while in combat. Additionally, the update improves the tracking of protagonist Davy’s attacks, making them easier to land, particularly against enemies on the ground or in the air.

The Steam community post also clarifies that players who have completed the demo will have to reset their save data if they want to dive back in and experience the changes, with instructions provided on how to do so.

In our hands-on review for Stupid Never Dies’ demo, we mentioned one of the game’s most prominent limitations was the lack of a lock-on feature, as Davy’s repertoire of moves struggled to keep up in stages with larger quantities of enemies. We especially found that the game’s combat would benefit from better responsiveness, given the precision required for some of Davy’s attacks and parries, alongside the rather unforgiving health system. With this in mind, it’s reassuring to see the developers making such swift improvements in the right direction.

Stupid Never Dies is set to release on October 22 for Windows (Steam) and PlayStation 5. The “First Bite Demo” is available now on both platforms.
