Indie developer KOJIMA_CREATE has revealed development footage for their upcoming 3D action game Jirai-kei Girl: Vengeance, which has quickly gained traction on the Japanese side of X thanks to its whacky premise. As reported by Game*Spark, the project, created by a team of three students, translates the “overwhelming affection” of Jirai-kei subculture into a high-intensity brawler.
Jirai-kei literally means “landmine style,” and it refers to a Japanese fashion subculture that combines cute aesthetics with darker, more melancholic undertones. The term is derived from the internet slang Jirai Onna (“landmine woman”), originally used to describe someone seen as superficially sweet, but emotionally intense, or difficult in romantic relationships.
Jirai-kei Girl: Vengeance centers on a protagonist fueled by the “ultimate betrayal”: her boyfriend’s infidelity. Players control the titular Jirai-kei girl and utilize a free flow combat system to take down her ex and the many girls he cheated on her with.
The game’s combat is designed for fluid group encounters, letting you switch between targeted enemies dynamically based on directional input. apparently, the developers are currently refining the impact feel and expanding the combo system to make the revenge-driven gameplay feel more satisfying.
While the primary objective of the game is to hunt down those who wronged the heroine, the developers have teased that there may be more to her revenge spree that meets the eye.
Jirai-kei Girl: Vengeance is scheduled to release on PC (Steam) in Q4 2026
