Japanese game developer TECOPARK announced on June 1 that it would stop distributing its multiplayer action puzzle title Pico Park: Classic Edition via Steam. While it originally launched as a paid title in 2016, since 2025, the game has been available for free on the platform. However, according to the developer’s comment, continuing to distribute it for free was “not a good idea” in the long run, which ultimately led them to the decision to permanently remove the game from Steam in the near future.

Of course, the game will still be playable for those who have downloaded it, and the developer is encouraging anyone interested in the title to do so before it’s completely gone from the platform. However, the exact date Pico Park: Classic Edition will be leaving Steam is yet to be announced.
The reason why Pico Park: Classic Edition had gone free in the first place was due to a “happy accident” caused by the developer. In 2025, the title received its first new update in 9 years, including online multiplayer functionality, and to celebrate this, the developer intended to temporarily distribute the game for free on Steam. But since this was the second time the game was switched from “paid” to “free,” the first time being back in 2021 when Pico Park (the definite version) came out, its status as a free game became irreversible as per Steam’s rules.

That being said, while Pico Park: Classic Edition is set to be removed from Steam soon, Pico Park (2021) is still available for purchase for Steam and Nintendo Switch. Pico Park 2, the sequel, is available to play for PC (Windows, Steam), Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
