Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact playtest character lineup revealed

Bushiroad has released new information about the Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact playtest event that will be organized during EVO Japan 2024.

The first fighting game adaptation of Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter series will finally be revealed to the public at the EVO Japan 2024, which will be held from April 27 to 29 at Ariake GYM-EX in Tokyo, Japan. According to a new press release from Bushiroad, the demo version will include Gon, Killua, Leorio, Kurapika, Hisoka and Netero as playable characters, which means we’ll be getting a good look at some of the series’ core cast members in action this weekend.

Developed by Eighting, Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact is a 3v3 team battle-based 2D fighting game. The player controls three characters during each battle, which means mixing and matching members will likely be a key gameplay strategy.

Following the game’s initial announcement, there were concerns among Japanese fans that Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact might not live up to its potential due to a limited development budget. On the other hand, overseas fans have (only half-jokingly) argued that the combination of “low budget,” “Eighting” and “Hunter x Hunter” may bring about one of the greatest fighting games in history. This weekend, we will finally get to find out.

Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact is currently in development and planned for release on the PC (Steam), PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
