Following turbulence in 2025 that caused fans to worry about the game’s fate, Princess Maker: Children of Revelation recently got a large-scale content update, showing promising progress by the dev team.
Initially developed by South Korean game studio D-ZARD under an official license from Gainax, Princess Maker: Children of Revelation is the first new mainline Princess Maker game since 2007. Following a successful crowdfunding campaign, the title launched in Early Access on Steam in July 2025, aiming for full release in the first half of 2026. However, the project ran into a standstill around September 2025, when D-ZARD announced that the project would be transferred to an external developer.

At the same time, South Korean media reported that leading up to this announcement, the studio had undergone major restructuring and halted work on all of its projects, with development staff members being laid off. Although the company had assured players it would deliver on its promises and finish the game, due to planned updates being delayed and the game staying in a far-from-complete state for a long time, its Steam rating slipped to “Mixed.”
In January 2026, it was announced that development would be resumed under a new partnership with developer GEAR2, but this too was followed by a long stretch of silence on Steam. However, on June 29, GEAR2 rolled out a massive update for the game, assuring players that it was committed to completing the game and living up to expectations.
In the new version 0.9.5., Princess Maker: Children of Revelation extends the child-raising period to 8 years, whilst the previous version only offered 4 years of gameplay. Also of note, the game now comes with eight characters you can build relationships with (as opposed to just two), and endings have increased from around 20 to 53, including 44 career endings and 9 relationship endings. With numerous other additions like meal management, new activities, dresses, and explorable areas, the game has come very far compared to its previous Early Access build. Its recent Steam reviews have climbed to a “Very Positive” rating.

In a short FAQ, the developers note that the game is not fully complete yet – they plan to further polish and add to it before it leaves Early Access for good. While versions for other platforms like the Nintendo Switch are being considered, the developers don’t have a definitive schedule yet as their top priority is to finish work on the game.
Princess Maker: Children of Revelation is available in Early Access for PC (Steam).
