Elden Ring manga author goes on hiatus to play the DLC
Nikiichi Tobita, the author of Elden Ring: The Road to the Erdtree, announced on June 19 that he will be going on a hiatus in order to play the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. As a result, the manga’s July 19 update will be skipped.
Elden Ring: The Road to the Erdtree is a spin-off comedy manga based on FromSoftware’s Elden Ring. The comic adaptation, published by Kadokawa, reinterprets the game’s original worldbuilding audaciously with a generous dose of gags. The whimsical comedy of the manga, paired with Tobita’s high-level artwork have been winning Elden Ring fans over since the manga’s debut in 2022.
The latest, 45th chapter of Elden Ring: The Road to the Erdtree was published today, and with its release, Tobita has announced that the July 19 update of the manga will be skipped as he makes his way to The Land of Shadow. In the announcement, (shown above) the author shares an illustration of (presumably) himself sleeping, dreaming of the DLC’s “glowy worm boi” and politely announces that he will be taking a break from the manga to focus on playing Shadow of the Erdtree. Readers are hoping this means that the DLC’s story and characters will be featured in the manga’s future chapters.
The Elden Ring DLC “Shadow of the Erdtree ” is scheduled for release on June 21 for the PC (Steam), PS4/PS5 and Xbox series X|S/Xbox One.
