Developers of popular android repair game D1AL-ogue to crowdfund sequel with 8x larger story and over 20 characters

D1AL-ogue's developers have confirmed that a crowdfunding campaign has been set up and is planned to go live in summer this year.

When last we heard from D1AL-ogue creators Cherry Picker, the four-person dev team was having trouble financing the sequel, D1AL-ogue+, and was looking into the possibility of crowdfunding to complete the game.

Now, in a May development blog published on he first game’s Steam store page, the developers announced that they have succeeded in setting up a crowdfunding campaign despite initial difficulties, and are planning to launch it around summer.

As of this month, the core planning stage for the D1AL-ogue+ has been completed. The overall scope of the game has been finalized, including 20 characters, the main ending, and several new pieces of content. While work on these elements is yet to be completed, Cherry Picker plans to flesh everything out and add depth as development progresses.

What has been completed, however, are several new character animations for the characters Pray, Lianne, Blade, Maya, and Himiko. A new character, Clen, is also currently being designed. To give fans a sense of the progress made on D1AL-ogue+] the devs have measured each category accordingly. Overall art is currently 40% complete, whereas writing and programming are both 60% complete.

Up next on the to-do list is to enrich the sequel’s narrative, which the devs claim will have “over 8x more story content” than the original. More characters will be introduced, and plot holes and foreshadowing in the first game will be addressed. D1AL-ogue+ is said to be more of a non-linear experience, where the player’s actions determine the course of the story. Aside from the narrative, new characters and puzzle mechanics are also in the works.

Released in February for Windows (Steam) as a free game, the original D1AL-ogue follows repair clinic manager Chris as he repairs female androids known as EVE (Electronic Vital Entities). As you fix them up using your D1AL diagnostic console and engage in color-matching puzzles, you learn more about your clientele. Following an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, a sequel was announced a little more than a month after its predecessor’s release.

D1AL-ogue+ is currently in development.
