A new entry in the Night Shift Nurses adult visual novel franchise was announced on October 15. Titled Night Shift Nurses Online –New Operation– (unofficial translation), the new live-service title is slated for release via Fanza Games for PC and via GAMES STORE for Android.
Originally released in 1999 for Windows 95/98, Night Shift Nurses was developed by the now-defunct visual novel studio Mink. Garnering attention for its dark themes and explicit content, the game, and by extension the franchise, became one of the company’s best-known properties and was later adapted into anime and other media. FG Remake, a FANZA/DMM.com branch dedicated to remaking classic visual novels, revived the title in 2024. The remake was later picked up by publisher Shiravune, leading to its English release on Steam.
The new Night Shift Nurses Online is a free-to-play card-battler RPG that centers on a new protagonist rather than the original lead. During his days as a med-student, the protagonist admired Ryuuji Hirasaka, the protagonist of earlier entries in the series. Ten years later, he has become a full-fledged doctor, and receives an invitation from Hirasaka to work as an assistant in establishing a “special ward” that he has planned.
Moving away from the traditional visual novel format of its predecessors, Night Shift Nurses Online is presented as an adventure game where the main gameplay loop combines hospital exploration with auto card battles. Players navigate the hospital in search of target characters, and combat is resolved using a deck built beforehand. Cards are obtained through a gacha system, and winning battles allows players to progress through the story.
The game’s official X account has also revealed that a pre-registration campaign is currently being held on the game’s website (link is NSFW and 18+). Participants can earn gacha rewards alongside DMM Points Lottery Tickets, which can be entered as part of a giveaway worth a total of 1 million DMM points across more than 4,000 winners.
The release date for Night Shift Nurse Online -New Operation- is TBA at the time of this writing, and there have been no announcements yet regarding a global/English-language release. Pre-registrations are now open.
