Parkour your way to a legendary hot spring in this Japanese jumping game for all skill levels

Japanese indie game development studio Monochrome Tales announced their new action game HopStepHotspring for PC (Steam). It will be playable in English and will release around the end of March (price TBA). HopStepHotspring was created under the intriguing concept of a “devious game that even novice players can complete if they are determined not to give up.”

You play as Atsumi Minagawa, a young woman who wants to go to a hot spring on her day off work. She has high standards and wants to soak in the best hot spring she can find. Therefore, the aim of the game is to reach a legendary hot spring hidden in the mountains by jumping effectively.

In this beginner-friendly title, the player progresses by using a simple combination of the left and right movement keys and a jump button. There are 3 types of jump, which vary in height, and you can switch between them by pressing the jump button. You will need to use the appropriate jump to traverse each obstacle and continue your quest for bathing bliss.

The game appears to consist of one long side scrolling stage and the landscapes you will come across on your journey look rather surreal. It seems Atsumi will have to parkour through tree lined parks, through people’s houses and even traverse floating platforms in a Middle Eastern inspired desert. You will have to play the game to find out what intrepid lengths Atsumi will have to go to in order to find the legendary spring. Incidentally, the adult content description on Steam hints at some nudity, suggesting that you may get to see the main character entering the hot spring bath after her climb.

Post translation: The game page is now up on Steam!
I started developing this title because I wanted to make my own jump game.
It’s for those who like jumping and hammer-and-pot climbing games, as well as for those who don’t, and casual players.
If this sounds good to you, please add it to your wishlist and wait for its release.

According to Monochrome Tales’ page on X, HopStepHotspring was borne from the developer’s love of jumping games. The developer would like casual players as well as jumping game veterans who enjoyed titles such as Jump King and Getting Over It with Bennet Froddy to give the game a go. HopStepHotspring is apparently designed so that even those who are not good at jumping games can gradually improve their skills.

HopStepHotspring is scheduled to release for PC (Steam) around the end of March 2024.
