This Japanese game recreates those cryptic mini “games” everyone has seen in mobile game ads
Japanese game publisher D3PUBLISHER simultaneously announced and released YEAH! YOU WANT “THOSE GAMES,” RIGHT? SO HERE YOU GO! NOW, LET’S SEE YOU CLEAR THEM! on July 20. The game is available for the Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam) and includes support for English and three other language options.
YEAH! YOU WANT “THOSE GAMES,” RIGHT? SO HERE YOU GO! NOW, LET’S SEE YOU CLEAR THEM! is a, somewhat threateningly titled, minigame collection featuring games that are styled like those you often see in mobile game ads. When watching a video on YouTube or while using certain apps, you will often see ads for mobile games which show gameplay footage that looks almost nothing like the actual games that are being advertised. For example, games where you must obtain treasure or save characters from molten lava by removing pins in a specific order, or ones where your strength is represented by a number, and you must carefully choose how to progress and grow strong enough to defeat the boss.
According to the game’s official website, the developers have recreated those “games you’ve seen somewhere before” but with cute and comical stick man characters. You now have the chance to play all your “favorite” ad-games, like the aforementioned pin removal game, or the game where you must help move cars out of a jam-packed parking lot.
The screenshots and gameplay footage show five different minigames. You can separate liquids into solid colors in Color Lab, remove pins to clear missions in Pin Pull, boost your number to defeat enemies in Number Tower, get the cars out of the parking lot in Parking Lot, and stack cash to get over obstacles in Cash Run. There are a total of 250 stages in the game.
Other features include a Gotcha mode, where you can obtain plates and titles using the coins that you earn from the minigames, and monthly rankings, where you compete with other players for the best scores and times across each minigame. The Steam page for the game reveals that it was developed by MONKEYCRAFT, who have worked on such titles as Katamari Damacy Reroll and Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series. There are other examples of ads being turned into actual games, but you could say that this title stands out for its variety and volume.
YEAH! YOU WANT “THOSE GAMES,” RIGHT? SO HERE YOU GO! NOW, LET’S SEE YOU CLEAR THEM! is currently available on the Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam) for $9.99. The Switch version can also be purchased on the My Nintendo Store.
