Cybernator is getting an uncensored Nintendo Switch port

Rainmaker Productions and Extreme have announced Assault Suits Valken Declassified, a side-scrolling shooter that’s scheduled to release on March 30 for the Nintendo Switch.

The game is a port of Assault Suits Valken which was developed by Masaya and released for the Super Nintendo in 1992. The game’s title was changed to Cybernator outside of Japan, but this international version is known for having some of its depictions censored and edited from the original.

The announcement states, “This new Declassified version finally offers the original Assault Suits Valken officially translated into English for the first time.” Additionally, the game will include an English translation of the original 80-page Japanese guidebook.

Assault Suits Valken is a sci-fi side-scrolling shooter set in the near future. Players pilot an Assault Suit called the Valken and must make use of its assortment of weapons to blast through hordes of enemies. The game is noteworthy for its detailed mech designs and story, which is told through character dialogue.

Development of Assault Suits Valken Declassified is being handled by M2, a developer with a well established reputation when it comes to porting classic games. The port will include the following new features:

– Save and Load states
– Replay recording and playback
– New “Retro Color” screen filters
– Unlockable cheats
– Super Playthrough (No Death/Good Ending)

The game will also include new artwork by Satoshi Urushihara, character designer of the original title, unreleased production artwork, the original and arranged soundtracks which can be listened to in the game’s music player, and an interview with Satoshi Nakai who was in charge of the Valken’s design.
