Nippon Ichi Software has announced void tRrLM2(); //Void Terrarium 2 is launching on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan on June 30. Both the physical and downloadable versions will be priced at 7,678 yen (roughly $67).

void tRrLM2(); //Void Terrarium 2 is an RPG where players take on the role of a maintenance robot that cares for young girl and ensures her survival. The first void tRrLM(); //Void Terrarium initially released in Japan in January of 2020, with an international release following in July of the same year.

The first game takes place hundreds of years after humanity has been wiped out by toxic fungi, when a discarded maintenance robot finds a girl named Toriko living in the scrapyard. The robot, built to serve, now devotes itself to keeping Toriko alive. Players gather food, craft objects, and build a terrarium for Toriko to live.

In void tRrLM2(); //Void Terrarium 2, Toriko’s body is starting to decay because of a mysterious illness different than anything they’ve encountered before. The robot and factory AI now work together to find the cause of this illness and learn more about the past of Toriko and humanity as a whole.

The game’s world is contaminated with poisonous fungi, and Toriko isn’t able to survive on her own. As the maintenance robot, you take care of both the girl and the glass bottle of a terrarium that she stays in to survive. In order to gather food and supplies, you will also venture into dungeon-like ruins.

Gameplay elements revolving around Toriko’s care are being upgraded in the sequel. The terrarium can now be decorated with furniture, plants, and other objects, allowing players to create their own unique terrarium for Toriko to live. Terrariums are also affected by temperature and humidity, so placing something like a humidifier or aquatic plants inside will cause steam and condensation to build up. These factors don’t just impact how the terrarium looks as Toriko’s actions change depending on her environment as well. By providing various environments for Toriko, you can enjoy an assortment of cute reactions.

The number of illnesses Toriko can contract has increased as well, such as ones that can cause her to swell up like a balloon or cause her to dry up. When Toriko comes down with a sickness, you’ll need to cooperate with factory AI to fix it.

Masayuki Furuya acted as the game’s director and character designer. Furuya’s previous works include the first void tRrLM(); //Void Terrarium, as well as htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary and A Rose in the Twilight. This new title appears to inherit the fantasy world and caring elements of the original while pushing everything even further. With the new elements being added to the formula, void tRrLM2(); //Void Terrarium 2 looks to take the charm of Toriko to even new heights.
