ゲームの祭典「The Game Awards 2021」の部門別受賞作品・受賞者が発表された。ゲーム・オブ・ザ・イヤー（以下、GOTY）の座に輝いたのは、Hazelight Studiosの『It Takes Two』。協力プレイ専用・画面分割メインのマルチプレイゲームであるが、圧倒的な完成度により3冠を獲得し存在感を見せた。なお『It Takes Two』は現在Steamなどでセール中。ひとつ買えば、ゲームをもってないフレンドとプレイ可能である。
そのほか、『Forza Horizon 5』も3冠を獲得。『ファイナルファンタジーXIV』や『Kena: Bridge of Spirits』、『Deathloop』も複数のアワードを獲得した。突出して受賞された作品は例年より少なく、さまざまなタイトルが表彰されることになった。リストは以下のとおり：
