Konami to broadcast Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel competition between AI duelists

Konami dropped a trailer for a special programme in which AI will play each other at Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. To be broadcast on YouTube, it will follow two teams of engineers engaged in AI research. Each team will attempt to create an AI Duelist that can beat the other.

The competition will use the digital card game Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel- which contains potential in-game situations that exceed chess in terms of the knowledge required to navigate them. Each team of AI engineers have just 30 days to develop a battle-ready AI. The AI Duelists will then fight it out in a dramatic-looking game of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel.

This project in which AI learns the ins-and-outs of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel was originally demonstrated back in February 2024 at a special event marking the card game’s 25th anniversary. The programme will be broadcast in full on the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Channel at a later date.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is available now on PS4/PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam), iOS and Android.

Yu-Gi-Oh! fans will also be pleased to learn that Konami recently revealed 3 more games that will be part of its upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection. The collection is slated to contain over 10 classic Yu-Gi-Oh! games, including Japan-only Game Boy titles.
