SNK and Arika to collaborate on renewal of “non-fighting game IP”

SNK announced on March 12 that they plan to collaborate with Arika to “revamp” their IPs.

In the announcement, SNK reported that they own more than 200 SNK-branded game-related intellectual properties, including Neo Geo. The company is currently aiming to restore and renew their past IPs. As part of this effort, they have decided to collaborate with Arika, which has a proven track record in game development and is familiar with SNK’s IPs.

Arika is a game development company headed by Akira Nishitani, known as the creator of Street Fighter 2. The company has famously worked on the Street Fighter EX series and Fighting EX Layer, and they are known for their involvement in the development of fighting games such as the Tekken series. In addition to fighting games, the company has also worked on a wide range of other genres, including titles such as TETRIS 99 and Forever Blue.

Details about the specific IPs SNK plans to revive have yet to be revealed, but in this collaboration with Arika, they are planning to use a “non-fighting game IP.” According to Ichiro Mihara, vice director of Arika, the collaboration does not include a capital tie-up.
