Paranormal social media detective game Demons’ Timelines hits 10k sales and “Overwhelmingly Positive” Steam rating

Demon's Timeline is a new indie hit by Japanese developer DigitalCats.

It’s been a little over two months since Japanese indie developer DigitalCats released its social media deduction game Demons’ Timeline. Since then, the game has sold over 10,000 copies and achieved an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating following recent reviews on Steam

Post translation: Demons’ Timeline has sold over 10,000 copies! I never imagined it would grow this much in just two months, so I’m absolutely amazed. I’ve been reading all your comments and reviews! A huge thank you to everyone who has played the game!

Demons’ Timeline puts you in the shoes of a cyber detective known as L. As L, you scour the fictional social media webpage Parotter via point-and-click interactions to solve demon-related incidents (called “Paradoxes”) alongside your demon partner Nyasuteria Hakouchi and two AIs. Unlike your typical horned devils, “demons” in this game refers to humans with supernatural powers.

Using the information you gather, you piece together a person’s real and online identities, the latter of which can include personal and alternate accounts. Once you have enough evidence, you can make a final deduction by using hashtags on the Parotter timeline.

The provject was developed by a four-person team helmed by Antler, whose previous works include several Unity puzzle games, mystery worlds in VRChat, and some adult-oriented titles. For Demons’ Timeline’s development, they launched a Campfire crowdfunding campaign on August 24, 2025 and raised over 1.18 million JPY (roughly $7,300 USD) in a month.

Demons’ Timeline currently has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam based on recent reviews and a “Very Positive” rating overall. Based on data from review analyzer SteamScout, 83.3% of reviews are in Japanese, followed by 7.1% for English and Simplified Chinese.

Demons’ Timeline is available for Windows (Steam). The first chapter can be played for free via the Steam demo, with save data carrying over to the full title.
