Back in December 2025, game company LiTMUS and popular Japanese gaming YouTuber Yoshinama released their single-player monster raising sim Mamon King. An unusual example of a successful YouTuber collaboration game, Mamon King was co-funded by Yoshinama, who invested roughly $160k USD out of his own pocket to produce it.
The game ended up becoming a viral hit, selling over 60,000 copies in its first week and allowing Yoshinama to fully recoup his investment in just a month.
Recently, the YouTuber made a new video update on the status of the game and its sales, announcing that Mamon King would be getting a physical release for the Nintendo Switch 2, coming to Japan on October 8.
In the video, Yoshinama also reveals that Japan’s video game giant Koei Tecmo is partially involved in the distribution of Mamon King’s Switch 2 release. Among many famous series like Nioh, Ninja Gaiden and Atelier, Koei Tecmo has also worked on the Monster Rancher franchise, which served as a major inspiration for Mamon King.
“Isn’t that crazy? I’m extremely honored. It really makes me feel as if they officially recognized [Mamon King] as a work inspired by Monster Rancher,” Yoshinama said.
As for the future of Mamon King, Yoshinama explained that the game is steadily on its way to selling 90,000 copies. Aside from recouping the full $160k USD investment, the game also generated a profit of about $12.6k USD, which Yoshinama plans to invest in his next work.
Back in January, Yoshinama expressed his wishes to start the production of his next game in around a year and a half from then, aiming to announce it after around three years. Apparently, Yoshinama already has a clear idea of what the next game is going to be, and in his words, it will be “way better and more fleshed out” than Mamon King. Considering that he now has enough funding to prop the development of a new game, it will be interesting to see how a potential new Mamon King sequel, or an entirely new IP, will shape up going forward.
