Gundam Breaker 4 shoots up the Steam charts upon release, praised as the Gunpla mech action series’ return to form

Releasing today (August 29), Gundam Breaker 4 shot to the top of the Steam sales charts, ranking in at number 1 in Japan and number 4 globally (source: GameBiz). From the early reviews, players seem to be seeing it as a return to form for Bandai Namco’s Gunpla mech action series.

Gundam Breaker 4 hit a peak of 14,537 concurrent players in its first 6 hours after launch (SteamDB). At the time of writing, it has 80.7% positive reviews on Steam, with players praising the game’s graphics, smooth performance, fluid combat and in-depth Gundam plastic model building system. Gundam Breaker 4 lets you build your virtual Gunpla from a wide range of SD and HD Gunpla pieces and fully customize the paint and color scheme. Players seem to be enjoying Frankenstein-ing together their own Gunpla creations.

The previous game in the mech action series, New Gundam Breaker was criticized for its shortcomings. However, from the early reviews, fans of the series are seeing Gundam Breaker 4 as a return to form and are comparing it favorably with the much-loved Gundam Breaker 3.

Gundam Breaker 4 is now available on PS4/PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam).
