Devil May Cry 5 and Dragon’s Dogma 2 director Hideaki Itsuno will make original AAA action games at new LightSpeed Japan Studio 

LightSpeed Studios announced on November 12 that it has established a new game development studio based in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan. LightSpeed Japan Studio will be led by former Capcom developer Hideaki Itsuno. 

Itsuno, who was the director of the Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma series, left Capcom at the end of August 2024 after a 30-year-career at the company. Since his departure was announced, fans have been dying to know what he’ll be doing next, and now we finally know. According to the new announcement by LightSpeed Studios, the veteran developer will be leading the development of original triple-A action games at the new Japanese branch. 

In the announcement, Itsuno gave the following comment: 

“Joining LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS is an exciting new chapter for me. With LightSpeed’s strong development capability and global network, I look forward to creating original AAA action game titles together with the amazing team and building aesthetic and innovative experiences for the global player community. We welcome all talented and passionate game creators from the world over to join our vision.” 

LightSpeed Studio Japan will be focusing on multi-platform, cross-device development with global audiences in mind.
