Danganronpa creator gives exciting update on in-progress game

Too Kyo Games’ Kazutaka Kodaka, of Danganronpa fame, gave an update fans have been waiting for today. Taking to X, he announced that he is on to the less nerve-racking and more exciting final 10% of working on his game.

Post translation: 90% of making a game is a tough journey, which only becomes fun in the final 10%. Anxiety turns to excitement. Once this happens, you are unable to consume any other entertainment save the game you are making, and you can’t help but want to polish it. It’s fun to see it gradually get more interesting. Thankfully, I’ve now entered the zone this time too.

Although it’s not clear which game Kodaka is talking about from the post- it seems highly likely that he is referring to The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy. Too Kyo games have been pulling out all the stops with their first in-house IP, even “risking their lives” by putting themselves in debt. It’s due to be published by Aniplex in April 2025.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy

Fan anticipation has been building for The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy as it is being co-written and directed by Kodaka and Zero Escape’s Kotaro Uchikoshi. This was clear in the enthusiastic responses to Kodaka’s X post from fans who are eagerly awaiting the two creators’ 7-year passion project.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is set to be released in early 2025 for the PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.
