Become a mind-reading Japanese schoolgirl and help your friends in this cute indie game
Happy Telepathy is an upcoming point-and-click adventure/visual novel where you play as a schoolgirl who has mind reading powers. Help her to do as many good deeds as she can in one day, using her telepathy to determine how best to aid her school friends. This feel-good slice of life game is made by Japanese indie developer Tomako and will be published by Waku Waku Games. It is due to be released on PC (Steam) in 2024, with console releases to follow later. It will be initially available in Japanese, English and Chinese.
You will step into the shoes of telepathic schoolgirl Miru Kokonagi, who catches sight of her horoscope while watching TV. The horoscope says that “good things will come to those who help others,” leading Miru to vow to aid as many people as possible that day. This is the set up for the game’s objective- chat with people at school and use your mind reading powers to solve as many problems as possible, bringing happiness to their daily lives. It seems the game will allow you to choose what Miru says in each conversation.
From the screenshots, it seems that some of the topics Miru will end up chatting about with her classmates are tests, school club activities and favorite bands. Sometimes people will hide their true feelings and that’s where Miru’s telepathy comes in. Use her skills to resolve her classmates’ problems and brighten their day. According to the Steam page description, it seems the problems will revolve around light-hearted topics. Happy Telepathy seems to be a cozy slice-of-life game “Jam-packed with merry moments, heartfelt happenings, fuzzy feelings, and all things cute!”
Happy Telepathy is being made by individual Japanese developer Tomako, who has shared some Japanese language footage of the game in the X post above. Aside from game development, Tomako has also published illustrations and TRPG scenarios. Happy Telepathy has been in development since around June 2023 (Source: Tomako’s blog on note) and was featured at the Yokohama Game Dungeon exhibit. According to the press release, the game will be released in either spring or early summer of 2024. A recent post on Tomako’s X account suggests that we will have to wait a bit longer for a specific release date.

Happy Telepathy will be released on PC (Steam) in 2024. After the PC release, console versions are also planned.
