Pragmata: How to get the Who Needs Guns!? achievement

The Who Needs Guns!? achievement in Pragmata can be acquired in different areas and ways, but here is one of the best spots to do so.

Though Pragmata lets you choose how to approach combat (either by hacking, shooting, or a mix of the two), some challenges and achievements can only be obtained by leaning toward a specific playstyle. The “Who Needs Guns!?” achievement, for instance, requires you to deal 3,000 hacking damage in a single hack.

The achievement can be acquired in different areas and ways, but one of the best places to try for it is in the Shelter’s Training Simulations, specifically Training Simulation 16: Crack & Crash. While the training details indicate that you have to defeat all enemies with weapons in 120 seconds, the lack of any non-primary weapons, abundance of Expose hacking nodes, and a “Retry Training” function in the pause menu make this simulation a great place to get the achievement.

When the simulator starts, quickly grab as many Expose hacking nodes as you can. You don’t need to worry about using a few of the nodes to defeat the lesser Lancer bots (the bipedal enemies with saucer-shaped heads), as there are plenty scattered around the arena to go around.

After defeating the first Lancer, a tougher Crusher will spawn. Using those Expose nodes you collected, hack the Crusher while making sure to pass through as many Expose (yellow) nodes and Open (blue) nodes on the hacking interface as possible.

Expose nodes ensure that your next hack deals critical damage and make it easier to stagger your opponent, with successive Expose node passes increasing the effects. While your first and second hacks might not deal the required 3,000 damage, the cumulative effects of your previous hacks will ensure that repeated hacks will be much stronger. Provided you pass through enough Expose and Open nodes, you should easily rack up over 3,000 damage on your third successful hack.

Pragmata is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam), with a Nintendo Switch 2 version launching on April 24.
