After spending over a year in Early Access on Steam, Princess Maker: Children of Revelation is finally getting its full release on September 30. Developer GEAR2 made the announcement on August 12, following the game’s 0.9.9 update.
Princess Maker: Children of Revelation is the latest title in the Princess Maker series of bishojo games originally developed and published by Japanese game and anime production company Gainax. In it, you raise a young girl named Karen Daidoji (the protagonist of the quiz adventure spin-off, Princes Maker Q) into a proper princess.

As her parent, you set her meals, choose her clothes, and plan her daily activities. The tasks you set for Karen affect her proficiency in different fields, be it studying, learning magic, or tending to farm animals. Taking part in these activities also gives Karen a chance to interact with other characters, which can lead to lifelong relationships.
You can also send Karen out on adventures that have her exploring a demon-filled world, which can lead to specific skill boosts and treasure that you can use to make her stronger. Completing each playthrough nets you one of 53 possible endings and a quick summary of your specific Karen’s journey. You also gain access to a Destiny Card, which makes successive playthroughs easier.

The game was initially being developed by South Korean studio D-ZARD under an official license from Gainax, but several complications (including layoffs at D-ZARD and the transfer of the project to new developer GEAR2) led to delays in Early Access updates and the full release. However, thanks to GEAR2, the game has been getting massive updates that have bumped its rating on Steam to “Overwhelmingly Positive” and will soon be released as a full title.
Children of Revelation’s 0.9.9 update introduces several additions, improvements, and bug fixes, including an Ending Gallery that lets you see all of your unlocked conclusions, improved pixel art graphics, and support for macOS. For the full release, the dev team is working on adding more endings, new events and illustrations, dubbing, and more. Further updates are planned following the launch date.
Princess Maker: Children of Revelation is available in early access for Windows, SteamOS, and Linux (Steam).
