Onimusha: Way of the Sword producer addresses concerns about demo being “too easy.” The full game will be much more challenging

Onimusha: Way of the Sword producer Akihito Kadowaki has released a message directly addressing feedback on the game's new demo.

While the recently released Onimusha: Way of the Sword demo gives players a variety of ways to dispatch foes, many noticed a distinct lack of challenge that the series is known for. In a recent message to fans, producer Akihito Kadowaki thanked everyone who played the demo and addressed the concerns about its difficulty modes.

According to Kadowaki, the demo was made with a wide spectrum of players in mind. Not only does the particular section of Kiyomizu-dera take place during an early part of the story, but the version of Miyamoto Musashi you play as is equipped with a bunch of abilities too – some of which are only unlocked near the end of the campaign. While this helps showcase the numerous abilities Musashi can perform, it is understandable that a late-game build would easily cut through starting foes, even on the supposedly harder “Action” difficulty setting.

Kadowaki assures players that the final game will have tougher standard Genma enemies and bosses – which are (hopefully) attuned to your skillset and player abilities. Aside from enemies’ health and damage not posing much of a challenge, their overall aggression is another issue in the demo, and is especially evident when fighting against groups of foes.

If the number of skills you possess in the demo is any indication, Onimusha: Way of the Sword’s tougher challenges will have you on your toes and experimenting with all kinds of demon-hunting techniques.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is set to release on September 25 for Windows (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A free demo is available on all platforms.
