Publisher Formirai and developer Spectra Motif Studio have revealed a new story trailer for Morpho Reverie, an upcoming artcore narrative rhythm game. The Steam store page for the game has been updated to provide further details on the gameplay and cast members.
The announcement also explained that character profiles as well as campaigns featuring signed autographs from the game’s voice actors will be held on Morpho Reverie’s official X page in the future, encouraging would-be players to follow.
Taking place in the near future of 2040, Morpho Reverie’s story is told through the eyes of composer Rein as they search for their kindred soul, Keeva, who goes missing during a music audition. In her place, an AI replica known as Keeva-α appears on stage. Meanwhile, a mysterious benefactor explains that each contestant must defeat their AI counterparts to proceed. As Rein, players will come to know a wide cast of performers, help bring their performances to life, and uncover the truth behind Keeva’s disappearance.
Morpho Reverie features five major branching endings plus multiple sub-endings, affected by every performance and narrative choice the player makes throughout their journey.
As a fusion of two genres, Morpho Reverie consists of visual novel segments that are bookended by rhythm game sections that feature originally composed tracks attributed to the many characters of the game. The Steam description reveals that Japanese artists such as ARForest, Karato, love solfege, Noah, onoken, Kubota Osamu, and Kaneko Chiharu will be providing the 30+ original music tracks for the title. An “Autoplay Mode” is also available, allowing players to focus more on the story of the game.

Outside of tracks that can be played as part of the narrative, Morpho Reverie also features a Performance Mode, which allows players to play any track regardless of story progression. Here, licensed tracks from artists such as BlackY, Sakuzyo, Feryquitous, and Juggernaut can be played alongside the aforementioned original tracks. BGM tracks are also playable too, with the Steam store description proudly stating that the game features over 80 playable tracks in total.
Morpho Reverie has yet to reveal its release date, but a demo for the game is planned to launch somewhere this fall on PC (Steam). The game will support English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), and Korean on launch.
