Visual Arts studio Key has announced Summer Pockets Sunnyside Stories, a visual novel that compiles 15 short stories originally published on the official Summer Pockets website in 2018, plus an additional original short story focusing on protagonist Hairi Takahara. Several scenarios that were featured in visual fanbooks and print editions will also be adapted into the game.
The VN features new CG illustrations by Na-Ga, Fumuyun, Tsubasu Izumi, and Yunon Nagayama (all of whom worked on the original Summer Pockets) and will be fully voiced in Japanese. Longtime fans will be happy to know that Konomi Suzuki, who provided the main opening and ending theme songs for the Summer Pockets visual novel, as well as both openings and the first ending theme song for the anime adaptation, will be returning with a new opening song titled “Luster piece” for Sunnyside Stories. The title and artist for the new ending theme song have yet to be announced.
Directed by yucchi (who also served as assistant director on the Summer Pockets VN), Sunnyside Stories adapts the short stories written by Key writers Yu Niijima, Sakigake, and Hasama. Given its unique format, there will be no choices or diverging storylines unlike the original VN.
Summer Pockets Sunnyside Stories is set to release on December 18 for Windows. There are currently no announcements regarding English support. You can find out more on the game’s official webpage.
