Japan’s hit free-to-play RPG Heaven Burns Red to get an English release
GREE and Yostar announced on July 5 that they will be bringing Heaven Burns Red to English-speaking audiences. The announcement was followed by the release of an English-language trailer for the game.
Heaven Burns Red is a free-to-play turn-based RPG developed by Wright Flyer Studios and Key. Its scenario was written by Jun Maeda, the acclaimed author of titles such as Clannad, Air and Kanon. Initially launching in Japan in February 2022, Heaven Burns Red was Maeda’s first completely new game in 15 years.
Set on an Earth driven to the brink of ruin by mysterious life-forms known as The Phage, the game introduces a squadron of girls endowed with special talents. Possessing the ability to use special weapons known as Seraph, the girls are humanity’s last ray of hope against The Phage. The player follows the battles and daily lives of the girls from the perspective of the main protagonist Ruka Kayamori.
Currently, Heaven Burns Red is available on PC (Steam), iOS and Android in Japan. The game enjoys significant popularity, with a Very Positive status on Steam (out of 3,736 reviews) at the time of writing, over 1 million downloads on the Play Store and high rankings on both iOS and Android stores.
According to GREE, the release date for Heaven Burns Red’s English version will be announced in a subsequent update.
