High-speed indie mecha action game Omega Phenex to be published globally by Astrolabe Games

Astolabe Games will support Omega Phenex's localization, global promotion, console publishing and worldwide promotion.

Omega Phenex Commenced Project Six developer Surume Kobo has revealed that Astrolabe Games will be handling the game’s global publishing. The company’s published works include BlazBlue Entropy Effect and F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch.

According to Kobo’s official announcement, Astrolabe Games will provide support in localization, global promotion, console publishing, and worldwide distribution. The developer says the publisher showed great enthusiasm for the project and presented him with terms that respected his creative vision. He assures fans that he will still handle the majority of Omega Phenex’s development.

The news comes hot on the heels of Omega Phenex’s crowdfunding campaign launch via Campfire, with its current funding close to reaching a revised stretch goal of 7 million JPY (roughly $43 thousand USD). While this stretch goal’s initial purpose was to establish a global operational and support structure for the game (allowing Kobo to focus solely on development while expanding player outreach and community support), the developer was able to achieve this through the new publishing deal. Therefore, the second stretch goal’s purpose will now be that of the original third, which is to outsource some of the game’s 3D modelling work to allow more freedom to create new mecha frame parts and improve the visuals and customization options.

Omega Phenex has been in the works for over eight years now. What started as a passion project that combines Armored Core’s speed with Ace Combat’s beautiful, sprawling maps has since evolved into a title with over 100,000 Steam Wishlists, thanks in no small part to the game’s playtests and word-of-mouth from its players. 2027 is still months away, but from the looks of things, the project seems to be heading towards its full launch without issue.

Omega Phenex Commenced Project Six is set to release in 2027 for Windows (Steam). An alpha version is also available for purchase on Booth.com. Provided the PC version is successful, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch ports are also being considered.
