Armored Core-inspired mecha indie game Omega Phenex reaches first crowdfunding target in a day, now at 174%

Omega Phenex Commenced Project Six is Japanese a mecha action game set to launch in 2027.

Surume Kobo, the Japanese developer behind mecha action game Omega Phenex Commenced Project Six, launched a crowdfunding campaign for the project on June 26 via Campfire. The campaign reached its initial target of 3 million JPY (roughly $18.5 thousand USD) in less than a day, and has amassed 174% of its first goal at the time of writing.

According to the developers, Omega Phenex was already on track to be completed (having been in development for about 8 years), with a release slated for 2027. However, following the success of its alpha and beta tests, as well as overwhelming support for the game among users (it currently has over 120,000 wishlists on Steam), the two-man dev team decided to start a crowdfunding campaign to make the final release even better.

The Campfire page has three core project goals at the moment. The first goal of 3 million JPY (which has already been reached) will allow the devs to hire professional Japanese voice actors for all of the characters. The second goal of 6 million JPY ($37 thousand USD) will allow for the establishment of a global operational and support structure, allowing Kobo to focus solely on development while expanding player outreach and community support. The third goal of 10 million JPY ($62 thousand USD) will allow the dev team to outsource some of the game’s 3D modelling work, which will give them more freedom to add new mecha frame parts, as well as improve the visuals and customization options. More stretch goals will be revealed as the campaign continues.

The Omega Phenex Campfire crowdfunding campaign will run until July 23. Those who want to support the game will receive some cool rewards, such as a Steam game key, a chance to design an enemy mech that will be used in the game, and a 3D promotional artwork of your mech created by Kobo himself.

Omega Phenex Commenced Project Six is set to release in 2027 for Windows (Steam). An alpha version of the game is also available for purchase on Booth.com. Provided the PC version is successful, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch ports are also being considered.
