Gungrave rights acquired by South Korean studio behind Gungrave G.O.R.E, with plans to expand the franchise

Studio IGGYMOB will work alongside Gungrave's original creator the series' original creator Yasuhiro Nightow for future developments.

South Korean studio IGGYMOB announced on April 27 that it has acquired the rights to Red Entertainment’s Gungrave franchise. Alongside the series’ original creator Yasuhiro Nightow, the studio plans to expand the franchise across various platforms and media.

IGGYMOB are no strangers to Gungrave. The studio worked on 2017’s Gungrave VR, a virtual reality prologue to 2022’s Gungrave G.O.R.E, which it also developed. Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat, a remake of the third-person shooter built in Unreal Engine 5, is currently in development and will likely be the first Gungrave title completed under the new management.

Gungrave follows Grave, a legendary Deadman gunslinger, as he fights against the crime syndicate Millennion and its current leader, his former best friend Harry MacDowell. Armed with two giant Cerberus pistols and the massive Death Hauler coffin, Grave carves a violent path to revenge.

Aside from video games, Gungrave was also adapted into an anime by Madhouse in 2002. The franchise’s heartfelt stories juxtaposed by its fast-paced action have created a loyal fanbase that is eager to see what IGGYMOB is cooking alongside Nightow. An official brand website is set to launch soon, containing more information on IGGYMOB’s plans.

Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat is currently in development for PlayStation 5Xbox Series X|S, and Windows (Steam).
