Japanese game label Lorebard, owned by StoryNote, has announced that its debut title Pain Pain Go Away! is set to release on May 20 for PC (Steam).
Helmed by Dragon Quest IX and Dragon Quest X director Jin Fujisawa, Pain Pain Go Away is a psychological typing visual novel game in which you literally have to “type away” the trauma of troubled kids. Taking on the role of a counselor at a small private clinic, you will be using the cutting-edge therapy device dubbed P2GA to venture into your patients’ subconscious and find out the root cause of their emotional distress.
The story kicks off when one day, a girl named Kokoromi visits your clinic claiming she’d murdered her own mother. Diving into the depths of her innermost feelings, the truth slowly beginsto surface, but it seems like there’s more to Kokoromi’s story than meets the eye.

When it comes to gameplay, the title blends visual-novel style narrative progression and typing action. The typing sections require not only speed and accuracy, but deductive reasoning related to the story’s underlying mysteries. There are multiple difficulty levels, so both beginners and typing masters can enjoy the game at their own pace.

Pain Pain Go Away! is a new project director Fujisawa went on to produce after announcing his retirement, committing himself to developing the title “as it were his last one.”
“I’ve been a part of the game industry for 30 years now. I’ve worked on many games that were overwhelmingly large in scale, but on the other hand, I don’t have much experience working on smaller games. I had to relearn everything from scratch, and it was really tough. However, I think I’ve managed to create an interesting game, so I’m quite satisfied with the result,” Fujisawa noted. “I worked on this title wanting to create something meaningful that I could leave behind if I were to make one last game, despite announcing my retirement as a director.”
Pain Pain Go Away! is set to release on May 20 for PC (Steam). A free demo is also available.
