Frontwing and Bushiroad have released a free demo for the upcoming coming-of-age visual novel Diss Diss Discussion. The game boasts a story adapted from stage plays by Japanese playwright Yu Tomisaka, character designs and artwork by Takuya Fujima (Negima!? Neo, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha), and music by Anze Hijiri (Peak a Soul+). The demo lets you play through an early portion of the full game.
Diss Diss Discussion takes place in Kohnodai Academy, a school that prides itself on the self-governance and autonomy of its students. Told in an ensemble format, the story brings several characters together to discuss and vote on the policies that control what they can do.

The story starts when Risa Sakurai, the student council president, causes a school-wide controversy by proposing to make school uniforms optional. The vice president, Ryo Hiyama, vehemently pushes back, being a big fan of how Risa looks in her uniform. Meanwhile, secretary Hasumi Ai harbors secret feelings for Ryo, another student seeks to confirm suspicions about her boyfriend, and multiple other dramas unfold among the eccentric cast of characters.
According to the Steam page description, the game is “a visual novel about the dumb things we say to get things done.” Each character brings their overly opinionated views into every topic and school policy they come across, which leads to arguments growing heated. Hidden between logic and reason, you see hints of their true emotions affecting their decisions. While the students have their own opinions, you ultimately make the choices that affect the school, the students’ relationships, and the ending.

Aside from Risa and Ryo’s conflict, another core story beat involves the school’s cultural festival. This event has the class reps defending their agendas, making excuses, finding loopholes, and using mental gymnastics to get out of unwanted assignments.
Diss Diss Discussion is set to release in early 2027 for Windows (Steam, DMM Games, DLsite), and Nintendo Switch. A demo is now available on Steam. You can find more information on the game’s official webpage.
